His wife Hannah, aged 34, and sons Harrison, age 10, Noah, age 6, Gard, age 5, and James, age 2. John Shannabraugh was listed immediately under these names. He was a farmer, aged 19, also born in PA.

In June 1997 a descendent wrote the following:
"In 1854 Jacob, Hannah, and their family moved to Grundy Co., MO. In 1847 Jacob had been appointed guardian of John Shannabraugh, an orphan, who also came to Missouri with the Sawyers. They left Ohio in March 1854 with two wagons and a buggy. They drove horses until May and lived in a vacant schoolhouse until Fall when they purchased 460 acres: 260 acres from Jewell Norris @$1/acre and 200 from the state of Missouri @ $.50/acre. Hannah died April 25, 1893 and Jacob died September 3, 1888. They are both buried on a small abandoned cemetery with son Perry."

Recorded in 1962 by Mrs. O.L. Livingston and Mrs. B.F. Hoover for the Grundy Co Genealogical Society:
    Drummond Cemetery, Grundy Co, MO.
The Cemetery is also known as Union or Pennington Cemetery. It is located on what is locally known (1962) as the Loren Drummond Farm. Trenton Township; S2-T61N-R24W. A native stone marker is north of the cedar tree which is in the center of the cemetery. In this year approximately 50 names were associated with the grave markers in the cemetery.

Notes from Janice Rhodes September 2000.
Drummond Cemetery is definitely abandoned now. One must know the path to find it. Small trees and brush have overtaken the cemetery. Jacob and Hannah's stone was clearly readable, as was son Perry's. Jacob was born in Adams Co. PA. There are other stones visible in the cemetery as well. The cedar tree is visible but seems to have lost its top. The Sawyer markers are east of the tree.

We searched Genealogical Society records housed in the Jewett Norris Library, and land deed records in the Grundy Co Courthouse. Jacob's land was indeed near the old fair grounds and is part of the city now. Jacob purchased 260 acres of land from Jewitt Norris on Sept. 28, 1854 for $2860. The transaction is recorded in Deed Book G p 120.
On May 25, 1860 Jacob purchased land from Joseph {Cornelison or Connelison}. He paid $260 for the land with these specs: West half of SW quarter of Sec 10 Twnshp 61 Rnge 24. This transaction is recorded in Deed Book M p 126.
On November 14, 1860 Jacob purchased land from James Austin. The sum of $230 was paid and the transaction is recorded in Deed Book O p. 294.
In 1869 Jacob and William Smith were involved in a transaction involving a trust.
On August 26, 1871 Deed Book 3 p 123 recorded a $200 purchase from Sylas W. and Fleary A. Tyler of 25 acres off the N part of the SE qrtr of the NE qrtr of Sec 9 Twnshp 61 Rnge 24.

I have searched through all the files with a Sawyer listed in the Grundy Co Genealogical Society records. The school children have filed their family histories for many years. All those who cross over our line agree with names and dates. It was interesting that one of these files listed Jacob's middle name as Penn.
